So I’ve been sitting on a secret. One that I couldn’t reveal until today. It’s been pretty hard not to talk about, but I didn’t think I could say anything until I had a link to give. (This is kind of a lie, I’ve already gushed to my close friends about it, but they are good at keeping secrets.)
Today, I am amongst the elite. Cookie A., Norah Gaughn, Annie Modesitt, Veronik Avery, Kate Gilbert, etc. are all gathered in the same location as me. If you don’t know any of these names, then this next bit of news might not be a big deal to you, but I’m wetting myself.
The news: I have been published in KNITTY!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course my pattern doesn’t rival the genius of the aforementioned designers, but I’m just glad to be swimming in the pool with them. My pattern is in the Summer ‘09 issue as a part of the Head-start on the Holidays edition. So not only am I in Knitty, but I’m part of a brand new feature for the magazine!
I shall not take all the glory however. My beautiful friend, Maura, took all the gorgeous photographs of my project. Pictures weigh heavily in the decision to include a pattern, so I’m very grateful to have such a talented photographer to call upon.
I’m so proud of us! Go check it out and make some of the awesome patterns (mine too if you want) that are featured. If you don’t knit, check it out anyway and marvel at the amazingness of all these wonderful designers!

Congrats! You should be super proud of yourself. It is wonderful news.
Great gloves and congrats on being "published"! But are you sure they shouldn't be called "Live Long and Prosper"? Was the hub watching too much Star Trek?
too funny.....i had been searching forever....FOREVER for a pattern.....finally i gave up looking and tried to make up my own pattern. (my pattern design....was more like an improv session....one came out good, but since i didn't write it down....the other looks different. oh well. Not too mention made them WAY to big, and of course, tried felting them....then just accepted them as they are....ALIEN gloves. i'm a year round cyclist (in high desert OR....below freezing winters, etc.)
CAN'T wait to try the pattern.
CONGRATS!!!
Hi! I've knit one glove and I'm on to the 2nd, and they're AMAZING! You're right - they DO knit up fast.
I wanted to thank you for writing out the 2nd glove instructions in full - I go crazy at gloves patterns which say "reverse all shaping" for the second glove. I adore patternwriters who take the time to actually explain in long hand how it works the other way round - thank you so much! My partner can hardly wait for glove #2 to come off the needles (just in time for our Tasmania holiday next fortnight)
:) Monica
Your Tridactyl pattern is too funny. My 10 year old son asked me last year to make him a pair of 3 fingered gloves so his hands could look like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. I didn't know there would be another person out there who would want 3 fingered gloves, lol.
